Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) has been hitting out at some of her fellow Republicans over their criticism of the torture program that was run during the Bush administration, where her father served as vice president.

On Wednesday, Cheney slammed Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) for opposing the nomination of Gina Haspel as CIA director because she oversaw a CIA black site in Thailand where detainees were routinely tortured. In particular, she accused Paul of supposedly "defending and sympathizing with terrorists."

Cheney also went after Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who this week described the Bush administration's torture regime as "one of the darkest chapters in American history." Writing on Twitter, Cheney told McCain that "the Enhanced Interrogation Program saved lives, prevented attacks, and produced intel that led to Osama bin Laden," while also telling him that "no one should slander the brave men and women who carried out this crucial program."

In response to Cheney's tweet, View co-host Meghan McCain gave Cheney a one-sentence rebuttal that reminded her that her father was subjected to torture for years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War.

"My father doesn’t need torture explained to him," she wrote bluntly.
